Before beginning the journey of learning Ten Qirat online, it is important to understand what Qirat means. In simple terms, Qirat refers to the recognized methods of reciting the Holy Quran. Each Qirat represents a specific and authentic style of recitation passed down through reliable chains of transmission. Traditionally, there are ten accepted schools of Qirat, each named after a renowned reciter of the Quran.
What Are the Ten Qirat and How Can You Learn Them Online?
The Ten Qirat are not merely differences in tone or voice. They include precise variations in pronunciation, letters, and vowel markings, all preserved through authentic scholarship. These variations can be compared to differences between dialects of the same language, such as British and American English.
During the time of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, different Arab tribes spoke different dialects. When the Quran was revealed, Angel Jibreel (AS) initially taught it in one form. Upon the Prophet’s ﷺ request, Allah allowed the Quran to be recited in multiple dialects to make it easier for the diverse Arab communities. From these permissions emerged the foundations of the Qirat, commonly known as the Seven Ahruf, from which the Ten Qirat were later authenticated.
By enrolling in the Online Qirat Course at Al-Huda Online Quran Academy, students learn directly from trained teachers who guide them step by step through the Seven Qirat and onward to mastering the complete Ten Qirat, all from the comfort of their home.
Why Learning Tajweed & Qiraat Matters
Reciting the Quran correctly is not optional, it’s a responsibility. Allah ﷻ says:
“Those to whom We gave the Book recite it with its true recital…” (Surah Al-Baqarah: 121)
To perform the “true recital” (تلاوت حقہ), you must learn the rules of Tajweed and the art of Qiraat. The Prophet ﷺ himself recited the Quran with proper pauses, clear articulation, and distinct letters, and so should we.
